At Perform Australia we believe good foundations as an actor are important. But sometimes, trying something new can be daunting! That's why we've got our suite of '101' courses which introduce you to the art of acting in a fun and friendly way. No previous experience is necessary to join and no audition is required. These are taught by professional actors who have trained at some of the world's great acting schools, at our Perform Australia HQ in Canberra. (Adult classes coming soon to Brisbane - children's classes already in progress!)
For the new actor, Perform Australia's 'Acting 101' course is the best place to start! Get out of your skin and find the performer within. Through drama games, script work, improvisation and vocal exercise, you'll cover the fundamentals of acting for stage and screen from the ground up. A fun class in a supportive atmosphere. Prepare to play!

Screen Acting 101
Want to get some experience acting with a camera? Want to find out what happens when filming TV commercials, soaps like Home and Away, action scenes, drama series and sit-coms? You'll get a chance to do that in Screen Acting 101. Through a series of in-studio exercises, you'll learn the basics of screen acting and gain more confidence in front of the camera. Every week you'll put your acting skills to good use by working with scripts from different genres and screen formats.

Week 4: Soaps. What is a soap? Why are they so popular? How do soaps contribute to an actor's career?
Week 5: The closeup. The importance of the eyes and facial expression in screen.
Week 6: The sitcom. It's a TV staple - so what makes them special?
Week 7: Locations. What does it mean to shoot "on location?" Tonight we unpack it.
Week 8: The scene. How do we make magic in a single scene? Learn tonight.
