Introducing the Thrive Program
The Thrive Program is a unique experience for Years 7-12 at Perform Australia. Students attend our Canberra headquarters five days a week, completing their academic studies (English, Maths, Science etc) by distance education through the Cairns School of Distance Education (CSDE). The other half of their day is spent in performing arts education.
The program is aimed at vocationally talented students who want to improve their skills and are perhaps looking to enter the industry - but it's also for those who love the performing arts and want to devote more time to them in school hours than they can in their current educational context.
Students are able to work towards their Year 10 Certificate while also undertaking a rigorous program taught by professional actors and other practitioners. Years 7-10 focus on acting (stage and screen), singing, dance and fitness across a range of styles and genres.
For students in Year 11-12, the focus is not on singing and dance but on completing their acting qualifications - first, the 10197NAT Certificate IV in Acting for Stage and Screen, and secondly the 10295NAT Advanced Diploma of Performance. Students can also achieve an ATAR if they are willing and able to complete the work required, but may prefer to complete Year 12 with just these qualifications. Students who wish to begin with Thrive in Year 12 will be able to complete the Certificate IV in Year 12 and if they wish can continue on with the Advanced Diploma after they finish their college years.
