HOLLYWOOD to BROADWAY Accents Workshop
American Accents Training - Canberra
When: 10am-4pm, Saturday 27th March, 2020
Where: Perform Australia, 11 Whyalla St, Fyshwick ACT 2609
If you've got dreams of cracking the American market as an actor, you'll need an American accent!
Although we hear American accents all the time in movies and TV, it's quite another thing for Aussies to deliver a genuine sounding accent consistently every time.
But how do you master an accent? It's not about mimicking sounds by ear, it's about acquiring an authentic muscularity to vocal delivery and inflection - and then being able to translate that consistently across performance for stage and screen.
In this fantastic one-day workshop, we'll teach you an actual methodology for doing it correctly. Perform Australia's voice teacher, Sarah Carroll, will take you through the need-to-know process to creating the right sounds for a General American accent. Then, she'll show you how to quickly sidestep to a range of other accents, including New York, Southern American, and even Cockney and London accents.
So whether you're hoping to perform on Broadway or hit the bigtime in Los Angeles, you'll come away from this workshop with a solid introduction to using an American accent.
