Charles Allen

After working in film, television, stage, and voiceover in the US, Charles relocated to Australia to join the teaching staff in acting at Queensland University of Technology in 2008. After four years in academia, he returned to acting with his Australian stage debut performance in the original play A Hoax produced jointly by La Boite Theatre Company and Griffin Theatre Company.

Since that time, he has also worked with Queensland Theatre, Sport for Jove, and Sydney Theatre Company (as Associate director). His on-camera performances include a variety of projects some of which are Hoges: The Paul Hogan Story, Ticket to Paradise, Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, Joe Exotic, Reef Break, Lost and Found, and Irreverent.

Since working in the VET sector, in addition to working with Perform Australia, Charles has held positions with The Performing Arts Conservatory as Assistant Director of Learning, and as Head of Acting with The Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts.

​​

His training includes improvisation with Upright Citizens Brigade, acting with Eric Morris, and the school of hard knocks in stand-up comedy.
