Imagine your child growing in confidence as they explore their creativity through drama!
Perform Australia's Razzle Dazzlers Program for 6 to 9 year-olds provides that opportunity. These drama classes are available in Canberra and Queanbeyan.
Our key focus for this age group is Explore. Each weekly drama class is one hour long and children explore drama essentials such as:
As your child grows and their reading skills develop, they'll move to working with scripts for performance. Your child will get to perform both in the classroom setting each week, for classmates, as well as in end-term performances. In Term 3 is our major show - where your child will rehearse and perform a character in a play.
Not only this, but each term is built around an important value or life skill - we call this the "hidden curriculum". While enjoying drama games, acting exercises and performance, your child will also be learning about what it means to be a respectful and respected person, through drama.

Term 1
Dynamic Drama
This term, we'll be using sound, movement and language to develop a performance for the last week of class, and family and friends are invited! We'll be working on a well-known tale and adding in our own spin, by using our bodies, voices and creativity, to find out what makes acting so awesome.
Performance: End-term in-class presentation.
Term 2
Play it back
Each week, we'll be taking a few lines of script and turning them into real scenes! We'll practise getting up in front of the class each week and playing back our scenes to our friends. That way we'll get more and more confident as actors. Plus, we'll learn all about what makes a scene tick.

Term 3
Performathon
Now it's time to get serious about performing! You'll work on a short play and be part of a theatre show at the Tuggeranong Arts Theatre, playing a character and enjoying an audience!
Major Performance: Scripted performance on stage. Students must learn lines by the date given by their teacher and be ready to perform on the performance date.
Term 4
Laugh Out Loud
Actors are entertainers! In Term 4 we'll be looking at making people laugh in this unit on comedy - plus having quite a few giggles ourselves! It's all about being creative, quick and having some fun.
