Reasons why you should do this course now
Reason #1: Your tutor knows what he's talking about
If you want to learn acting, you want to learn from someone who knows what they're talking about.
Your tutor is Brendan Kelly.
Brendan Kelly is an award-winning actor, writer, director and producer based in the Australian Capital Territory. He received his training at the Canberra Academy of Dramatic Art, now Perform Australia, gaining his Advanced Diploma in Performance.
Since then he’s been active in the Canberra theatre and film community. His short film, Dying Art, has toured several festivals including internationally, and won several awards, including Best Director and Best Screenplay. His other award-winning films include Punctured, Social Media Duel and Hyde. He has also appeared in features such as Blue World Order, The Furies, Me, My Mates and the Zombie Apocalypse, and others.
Additionally, he has performed in many local theatre productions, including a number of shows with Honest Puck Theatre. These include Danny The Champion Of The World (2020), The Woman In Black (2019), Henry Five (2016) and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged (2015) as an actor, and Mistakes Were Made (2018) as director.
Reason #2: It's an accredited course
Unlike other screen acting courses in Canberra, this course is fully accredited. Perform Australia is a registered training organisation (RTO 40859) and this screen course is a unit from both the 10915NAT Certificate IV in Acting and the CUA40520 Certificate IV in Musical Theatre. So if, in the future, you'd like to progress to either of those courses, you've already completed one unit! If you complete all the assignments successfully, you can receive an official Statement of Attainment for the unit called CUAPRF410 Develop on-camera performance skills. But if you would like to complete the course for fun, without taking on the accreditation, you can do that too. After you enrol, we'll send you more info and ask you whether you would like to enrol as an accredited student or as a leisure student.
Reason #3: You'll have some fun!
Although we take our screen acting very seriously, we also create a learning environment that is safe, fun and enjoyable! You'll meet some other people with similar interests to yourself, start making some new friends, and enjoy Brendan's warm teaching style. Sounds great, doesn't it?
