How we help actors with one-on-one coaching
Actors sometimes need the assistance of a professional actor for:
-
Preparing for a high-stakes audition - an actor coach can help direct your work and give you feedback on what you've done so far
-
Reading opposite you for an audition and helping shoot your tape
-
Work with you on developing your character for a role, if you feel you're "not getting it" or just need a sounding board for ideas
-
Help you with refining an accent for a role
-
Getting an outside eye on your work as you develop your library of self-tapes
-
Improving your vocal sound and quality, addressing specific issues you've encountered while using your voice in performance
-
Help with a drama school audition
-
Advice on career directions, networking and other actor business skills.
But it's not just actors who can take advantage of our actor coaching.

How coaching with an actor may help you in daily life
Actor coaching is sometimes viewed as a niche service designed exclusively for performers. However, be assured, its benefits extend far beyond the stage and screen, offering profound value to individuals in other fields. You might not think of these scenarios immediately, but here are some interesting people we've helped through private coaching with our actors on team here at Perform Australia:

-
A mature aged gentleman who secured a job as a shopping centre Santa, and wanted a few tips on how to act like him
-
Someone who needed to prepare a 'Best Man' speech for a wedding, and was terrified of speaking in public
-
A college student who wanted some help preparing her final Year 12 drama performance assessment
-
An ex-military officer who had returned to civilian life, and was told by their new employer that they needed to work on their vocal quality and speech patterns, because it sounded like they barked orders at everyone
-
A new migrant from Sri Lanka who wanted help softening her accent for better communication in the workplace
-
A bush lawyer who wasn't taken seriously in court because of his broad country accent; he wanted some advice on how to use his voice to increase his authority
-
A six-year-old who had a very long wait for a speech pathology appointment, and needed to get started on some pronunciation and vocal work in order to be understood at school
-
A CEO who wanted to learn how to make his public addresses more interesting and dynamic.
...So there are many possible reasons why you may want the help of an actor to improve your life! Actors can assist with all these things, and more.
Whatever your challenge or struggle, we take your concerns seriously and treat them confidentially. Whether you're wanting to work on your vocal or performance skills, our coaches will make you feel at ease and will problem-solve with you, using acting techniques and their experience as performers to help address your needs.
