Perform Australia's

The Playhouse Program

Playhouse is Perform Australia’s new program to give older teenage students an opportunity to delve deeper into the process of acting in theatrical productions.

It is a once-a-week class during which students will work with a professional director to develop their acting skills while rehearsing a play. Each class will be a combination of actor training and performance preparation. Skills developed will include acting technique, character work, voice and stagecraft, as well as the vital ability to collaborate as an ensemble member.

'The Mysterious Tale of the Mary-Celeste'

written by Elizabeth Avery Scott

Back in 1872, a merchant vessel set out on a voyage from New York to Gibraltar. Days later it was found completely abandoned near the Azores Islands... there was no one left aboard... just an eerie wind blowing through the ripped sails.

So where was the Captain? Where was the crew?

The mystery of the 'ghost ship' Mary-Celeste has puzzled historians and adventurers alike for more than a century. What actually happened, and where did all the people go? Was it pirates? A storm? Disease? Aliens, even?

'Boat'

by Lindsay Price

Boat is the story of a group of teenagers who find that the world is not all “us” and “them”. Through a series of funny, awkward, and sometimes surreal encounters, apparent strangers begin to realise that they have more in common than they first thought.

Bold, fast-paced and poignant, Boat is a play about connection, empathy, and what happens when people stop shouting at each other.

After all, we are all in the same boat.
