Character Lab ... what's in the course

Character Lab is an inspiring 8-week evening course designed for actors eager to deepen and transform their approach to character work.

Each week, you'll explore practical techniques to craft rich, believable characters—whether for stage, screen, or audition.

Through dynamic exercises, script work, and improvisation, you will learn how to analyse text, uncover hidden motivations, and bring authentic detail to their performances. The course covers vocal and physical embodiment, emotional connection, and developing unique character traits that feel truthful rather than forced.

Led by an experienced industry tutor, Goldele Rayment, Character Lab creates a supportive and challenging environment where actors can experiment, take risks, and discover new aspects of their craft.

You will also work on short monologues and scene work, receiving constructive feedback to refine and strengthen your character choices.

Ideal for those with some prior acting experience who want to push beyond surface-level interpretation, Character Lab helps actors step into a character’s shoes with depth and imagination.

By the end of the eight weeks, you'll leave with a set of practical tools to approach any new role with confidence, creativity, and emotional honesty—ready to bring characters to life in a way that truly connects with audiences.
