Improv for Actors
Improvised theatre - scriptless and unrehearsed - can be an art form in itself... especially for comedic TV shows such as 'Thank God You’re Here' and 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?'
But that's not all it can be. Improv can also be used in a more traditional acting context - where scripts and rehearsal processes are both in play... and comedy may or may not get a look in!

In this course you'll learn you some key principles from improvised theatre and how to use them as an actor.

Improvisation can be a great tool for:

-
Strengthening your rehearsal process
-
Deepening your character work
-
Sharpening your ability to listen to your scene partner
-
Building your confidence in performance

Join this course and get a handle on your improvisational skills - and you'll become a stronger actor!
A great course for those who have completed Perform Australia's 'Acting 101', as well as more experienced actors.
WHEN: 7:30-9:30pm, Thursday nights, April 30 - June 18, 2026

WHERE: Perform Australia Studios, 12/38 Reed St North, Greenway ACT

COST: $380

Hone your acting skills through improv
In performance, every actor needs to present their scene as if it's happening for the very first time - even if you've been rehearsing it for weeks!
But how do you make it look genuinely fresh and spontaneous?
Improv can help.

Working from techniques used in professional rehearsal rooms, you will explore spontaneity within structure. This means:

-
staying truthful under pressure
-
responding authentically to your scene partners
-
making bold choices, and
-
knowing how to recover when things don't go as planned.

This course helps actors working in:
-
Scripted theatre - in traditional theatrical settings
-
Devised work - developing new writing and performances with colleagues
-
Auditioning - being directed during the audition and improving your performance
-
Ensemble performance - working with a team of actors in stage and screen settings.
